- Walrus Islands Wildlife Camp and Expeditions are available only on selected dates between approx. June 15 and Aug. 15 each year.
- In the Wildlife Camp you'll stay on Round Island in heated exedition style platform tents with comfortable cots and chairs. Meals, beverages and snacks are provided. On a Walrus Island Expedition you sleep in a snug cabin and dine aboard Inconnu, anchored in a remote bay in the Walrus Islands or along the coast of the Togiak National Wildlife Refuge, and spend one or more days on Round Island
- Prices are all-inclusive, with boat transportation, guide service, all meals, snacks and beverages, and wildlife sanctuary permit fees. There is nothing additional to buy or pay.
- All trips are based in Dillingham, Alaska, and require flights from Dillingham to selected locations on Togiak Bay. Flights are conducted by commercial air charter operators.
- Walrus Islands Expeditions will arrange connecting flights and can help you obtain the best schedules and prices from Anchorage to the boat. Air charter fares are additional to excursion fares listed below. Check with WIE for current air charter costs.
- Guests need to bring only their optics, personal items, and field gear including weatherproof clothing, boots, and rucksack. A detailed clothing and equipment list is provided in advance.
- The Walrus Islands are extremely remote. The nearest village is 30 miles by boat, the nearest rescue helicopter is 300 air miles. There are no visitor services. Round Island has a seasonal crew and their cabin has radio and satellite phone, which are available for emergency use only. These are for emergency use only. The vessel Inconnu has VHF and HF radio and satellite phone, plus the full complement of safety and survival gear.
- Travel is by fully-enclosed 40’ diesel motorboat. Transfer between beach and boat is by 10’ rigid bottom inflatable boat.
- Walking on the islands and mainland is mainly on trails over gentle hills, but some parts are steep. A stairway leads up from the beach to the Round Island trail system. Prospective visitors must assess their physical condition and ability to get on and off the inflatable boat and up the trails, so that they may fully enjoy their experience.
- Visitors are requested to declare any health problems that may be debilitating or may require medications, special diet, or special treatment during the excursion.
- A 50% deposit is required on booking, with final payment by June 1. A full refund will be issued only if a trip is cancelled due to weather, mechanical or other problems that prevent WIE from being able to provide the excursion. Trip cancellation insurance is recommended.
